OCRI's Entrepreneurship Centre is pleased to present the
Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) workshop series.
The series is designed to help you make crucial exporting
decisions and get you off to a good start on your journey
towards foreign markets. FITT is the only organization in
Canada to accredit a professional designation to international
trade practitioners, the C.I.T.P. (Certified International
Trade Professional). Join us for an introduction to the FITT
program at the Smart City Summit.

FITT Program - Module 1:
INTERNATIONAL MARKETING

Nowhere is marketing more important than in the global marketplace.
International Marketing will teach you how to outdistance
the competition while covering the basic essentials of marketing
in foreign countries while highlighting how to buy and sell
in a different cultural and regulatory environment. Douglas
Marshall specializes in assisting clients with International
Trade activities with over 25 years of experience and practice.
He worked for 10 years as Vice President Government Relations
with Bombardier Inc., marketing the company and its products
to domestic and international clients.
 
FITT Program - Module 2: INTERNATIONAL TRADE
FINANCE

With Norm Hotchkiss, Export Development
Canada
International Trade Finance will teach you how to secure
export financing and will take you through complex ventures.
The Module will introduce you to the importance of how to
assess risk, design strategies and identify techniques in
the course of export/import operations or projects. Norm Hotchkiss
has served as Director of Small Business Services at EDC for
the past 2 years. Before joining EDC, he worked for the Department
of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, and has operated
his own trade business as a partner for almost a decade.
 
FITT Program - Module 3: INTERNATIONAL TRADE
LOGISTICS
April 29 and 30, 2003

With John MacDonald, International Trade
Logistics Professional
International Trade Logistics will introduce you how to get
goods from the seller to the buyer. The Module will cover
the basic principals of Trade Logistics and how to learn the
language associated with import and export internationally.
John MacDonald is a professional Logistician in both Canada
and the UK. As a member of the FITT Assessment Team, and a
qualified trainer with over 15 years experience, he enjoys
teaching FITT courses and has developed a Key Point method
for faster coverage and retention of the material.
 
FITT Program - Module 4: INTERNATIONAL MARKET

With Jean-Marc Trottier, Relations Solutions
International
Successful international trade is more than just good marketing
it starts and ends with strategy. This module will help you
to assess needs, barriers and choosing the right partners.
Jean-Marc Trottier brings 30 years of experience in various
parts of Canada and later Port-au-Prince, where he managed
Air Canada's interests in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Today, his consulting business has taken him to Morocco and
Mexico while also working with a number of international companies.
