TechAction Town Hall Mayors' Panel hosted by Bob Chiarelli,
Mayor of Ottawa
At
this year's Smart City Summit, CATA is bringing together federal
Ministers Allan Rock and Rey Pagtakhan, and the Mayors of
the most advanced high-tech cities in Canada. The Mayors will
form a "power panel", which will present the results of their
cities' "TechAction Town Hall Meetings" - the series of executive
gatherings organized by CATA in conjunction with KPMG and
Industry Canada. The TechAction Town Hall Meetings have produced
a blueprint for each city, on how to accelerate the adoption
of high technology and innovation. These Action Plans will
be melded together, according to a nation-wide Ipsos Survey
template, to create "Canada's Advanced Technology Business
Plan". Audience participation in the form of interactive voting,
on-the-spot decision-taking, and a respected Moderator make
it an ideal tool to help the Government harness the power
of the industrial economy.
Tickets are $100 plus GST (corporate tables of 10 are $1000
plus GST). Register now.

Ottawa Citizen Business
Television to Broadcast from the Show

live from the Show Floor on April 29 and 30. Host Janet Eastman
will tape the evening broadcast of the 6:30 Ottawa

a studio on the trade show floor. Covering local business
news and events surrounding the Smart City Summit, this feature
will bring media attention to the Show and create opportunities
for interviews of speakers and exhibitors throughout the Show.

Smart Office
Expo an Innovative Twist to the Smart City Summit
Being "smart" is not just about the Internet and broadband
applications. The right combination of vision, infrastructure
and applications can make any organization "smart". In 2003,
Expocorp has partnered with IFMA,
BOMA Ottawa, the Continental
Automated Buildings Association (CABA) and PWGSC
to expand the trade show exhibits into smart office design.
Capital
Office Interiors and Steelcase
have also partnered with Expocorp to develop a free seminar
program on the Smart Office. As a trade show and conference
on its own this area will be a dynamic visitor attraction,
but the positioning of the show alongside the Smart City Summit's
broadband focused trade show makes this new feature a must-see
for all visitors and delegates. See technology in the smart
office at the Smart City Summit.

Back-to-Back Innovation
Keynotes are Another Highlight of the Event
Government and business leaders will explore innovation topics
throughout the Summit, and two Keynotes will lead the discussion.
On April 29th, CATAAlliance has invited to feature
the Minister of Industry, Allan Rock in a Keynote Business
Dinner focusing on the Government of Canada's Innovation Agenda.

for this Keynote and wrap-up to their Tech Action Town Hall
Program. The next morning, April 30th, delegates will join
Ottawa's business community and members of The Ottawa Network,
TIE and Mindtrust for a Keynote Breakfast Power Panel on Innovation
and our Economy. Hosted by CTV
Tech Now's Paul Brent, this panel of Venture Capitalists
and business leader will explore how we can shape our economy
around innovative approaches to technology and business. This
back-to-back format will bring government and industry perspectives
to the Summit, and stir debate on our economic future as innovators.

exhibit of federal programs and services around e-communities
